June 2021 Content Ideas and Inspiration

Halfway through the year now and June is known as a great month to get married! It was thought that couples who married in June would be blessed with prosperity and happiness. There’s a great quote in a song from “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”,

“They say when you marry in June you’re a bride all your life, and the bridegroom who marries in June gets a sweetheart for a wife”.

The month also brings beautiful bouquets, delicious fruits and vegetables, and an urge to get out there and enjoy the sunshine, particularly important after all the Covid lockdowns!

June was originally named Iunius in the Roman, or Julian, calendar. There are two theories on its origin. It either came from the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter, or from the word “iuniores”, the Latin word for “younger ones”.

I think one of my favourite June quotes is this one:

Fun Facts

June is the month with the most daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest amount of daylight hours in the Southern hemisphere.

The Full Moon in June, known as the Strawberry Moon, is on 24 June this year. The wild strawberries that start to ripen during early summer gave the name to this Full Moon. Other names for this Full Moon are Hot Moon, Rose Moon and Mead Moon.

According to the Brothers Grimm, the Pied Piper lured 130 children of Hamelin away on 26 June 1284.

The Pied Piper of Hamelin is an old German folktale about the departure or death of a great many children from the town of Hamelin (Hamelin), in northern Germany, in the Middle Ages. The story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin was popularised in German by the Brothers Grimm and in English by the poet Robert Browning (1812 - 1889).

The folktale tells of a mysterious wanderer, known as the Pied Piper, who agrees to rid the town of Hamelin of a plague of rats, for an agreed price. He enchants the rats by playing a magical flute and leads them into the nearby river Weser, where they drown. However, when the people of Hamelin go back on their promise to pay him for his work, he takes revenge by playing his flute for the town’s children and leading them away into a mountain cave which, as if by magic, seals itself shut.

June 2021 Special Days

Father’s Day, like Mother’s Day, is celebrated on different days all over the world. The most popular date for Father’s Day is the third Sunday in June. This date was first observed in the USA and has since been adopted by many countries, including the UK.

There are holidays for every business and personality and, as a result, there are loads to choose from and I’m sure you’ll find some that are perfect for your business!

You can look up hundreds of fun holidays online to connect with your followers. Just type in ‘special events’ or ‘holiday days’ in your search engine of choice! Do be careful to add the year though as the dates of many of these events change each year.

The alternative is to follow our new blog series every month. We plan to publish July’s suggestions at the end of May, August’s at the end of June, and so on.
